MTHFR mutations can be the cause of fertility issues, mood problems, depression, anxiety, increased risk for heart disease, problems detoxifying and more.
Supplement with active form of FOLATE (5MTHF).
We use a L-5MTHF B complex with extra high dose 5MTHF folate.
- Klaire Labs B Complex Plus. Start with the B Complex alone for a week or two, with 400mcg of Folate. Let your system get used to that. Then add more 5MTHF
- Thorne 5-MTHF 5mg (recommended by Bill’s doctor) or proceed more slowly so you don’t flood your system too fast (which can make some people start detoxing too fast). Dr. Amy says (in the linked podcast) go slow, especially the more copies you have of the gene defect. Start with Thorne 5-MTHF 1mg. Be on 1mg for one week, then go to 2mg, for a week. Every week go up 1mg until you are at 5mg and stay there.
Also supplement with quality B12. We use sublingual Perque Active B12
Take NAC, n-acetylcysteine, another helpful nutrient.
