Alternatives to NSAIDS for joints – Drunken Raisins?
Doctors prescribe NSAIDS, like over the counter ibuprofen and naproxen or prescription like celecoxib, diclofenac or meloxicam.
If you are taking these drugs, please do your research on the many serious side effects (skin lesions, kidney damage, increased risk of heart attack and stroke, heart burn, bleeding ulcers, liver damage and more).
I am totally and completely daily against the use of Ibuprofen and Aspirin as the side effects are many. I am 100% for doing everything you can naturally to reduce inflammation and support the body’s healing process (Real food, bone broth, Collagen, supplements, essential oils)
What about the Drunken Raisin for Arthritis?
What is a drunken raisin:
Golden Raisins soaked in enough gin to cover.
Let sit about a week until the gin has evaporated and eat 9 raisins a day.
We are not talking about drinking gin 🙂
(Alcohol is a poison, so you need to do the week-long evaporation).
Maybe it can help, but
The best way to support joint health:
1. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet
3. Add supporting supplements (see below)
What else would I recommend for arthritis besides eating according to this plan?
**Think about removing Night Shades for a month.
If after eating the anti-inflammatory diet for a month you do not get the results you hoped for, try removing nightshade foods which include tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant and peppers.
Add supplements that cool the fire:
—Omega 3 fatty acids – Carlson Cod Liver Oil or YL OmegaGize
—Vitamin d3 (5000 IU) plus K2 (helps reduce calcification of joints and arteries, I use Super K)
—High dose Vitamin C (not ascorbic acid – but look at a Vitamin C that has camu camu, rose hips, accrual cherry) I use Super C Chewable, and chew one or two several times a day.
—Turmeric – I use Bio Curcumin
–Certain essential oils are very beneficial for this too. I can’t specifically list them here since we are talking about a disease/condition – so please look in your reference book or contact me if you need help getting started with essential oils.
—NingXia Red antioxidant supplement drink
If you have followed the eating plan, removed nightshades and added the suggested supplements – your joint pain may be surprisingly reduced or better.
Still want to try the raisin thing?
Don’t use gin/raisins to cover up a bad inflammatory diet
Why would gin and raisins to anything?
Anti-inflammatory properties of plants – Thank you, God
Examples of what is found in Juniper Berries (GIN) and Golden Raisins: Vitamin C, Catechins, Terpineol, pinene, caryophyllene, limonene, menthol, ferric acid, salicylic acid, potassium, calcium…
NOT CHEAP GROCERY STORE GIN.
The medicine is in the Juniper Berries that should be used to make the soaking gin.
There is such a thing as Juniper essential oil…maybe we don’t need to soak in alcohol…
The FDA prevents me from connecting any dots here for you. Just know, I would not use GIN, I would use the plant or plant extracts that are providing the benefits.
I would not eat Golden Raisins either because I get my nutrients from fresh/frozen fruits and veggies, not dried fruit with increased sugar and mold content.
No matter what I say here, there will be some who are dying to try the gin thing.
IF you have ever been or are a recovering alcoholic, do not mess around with this, you know you don’t need to buy gin to make this and then have gin on hand. #NOTWORTHIT
“From Wikipedia: ‘Gordon’s London Dry Gin was developed by Alexander Gordon, a Londoner of Scottish descent. He opened a distillery in the Southwark area in 1769, later moving in 1786 to Clerkenwell. The Special London Dry Gin he developed proved successful, and its recipe remains unchanged to this day. Triple-distilled, the gin contains juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, liquorice, orris root, orange and lemon peel.’
