Aveeno? Not Smart. DIY – Make Your Own Lotion.

Your skin deserves better!

Our skin is our largest organ and the lotions and potions we put on our skin get into our bloodstream, so we need to read ingredients labels and check the ingredients against the EWG.org database.

Be sure to choose quality products without toxic chemicals, or make your home personal care products.

For example, Aveeno is a name that people seem to trust. The following information can be found on EWG.org.

Yesterday a gal shared with me that she absolutely recommends her homemade lotion using Frankincense and Myrrh essential oils.

She will not run out and loves the way it hydrates her skin with all natural ingredients!

I believe she uses a recipe from Josh Axe, and here are the ingredients:

  1. 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  2. 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
  3. 1/4 cup Beeswax
  4. 1/4 cup Shea Butter
  5. 2 Tbs Vitamin E Oil
  6. 20 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
  7. 20 drops Myrrh Essential Oil

Melt the first 4 ingredients in a double boiler or in a bowl that is set in a saucepan with water.

Mix.

Refrigerate for one hour.

Using a hand mixer, blend the hardened mixture, beating until fluffy.

Add in Vitamin E oil and essential oils.

Fill a container. You can use glass lotion dispensers or BPA-free plastic lotion dispensers or glass jar.
