DIY Hair Care Recipes with Essential Oils
Keep your locks as beautiful as ever with these DIY hair recipes!
DIY Dry Hair Spritz
If your hair is dull or naturally dry, spritz this recipe over your hair throughout the day to keep it from looking dry, particularly if you are planning a day in the sun. I only use and recommend Young Living essential oils.
- 1 cup distilled water
- 10 drops Royal Hawaiian™ Sandalwood*
- 10 drops Frankincense
- 8 drops Cedarwood
- 8 drops Ylang Ylang
- 1 tsp. V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex
Add all ingredients in a 12-oz. spray bottle. Shake well before spritzing over hair, avoiding the roots.
DIY Detangler
Smooth out knots with this hair detangler!
- 1/2 cup Lavender Volume Conditioner (or other Young Living conditioner)
- 1 1/8 cup hot (not boiling) distilled water
- 3 drops Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood*
- 3 drops Cedarwood
- 3 drops Frankincense
Put conditioner into a 12-oz. spray bottle. Add distilled water and shake. Add essential oils and shake again. To use, spray on dry or damp hair, focusing on the ends.
DIY Highlights
Lighten any hair color with this recipe for sun-kissed highlights.
Be conservative with darker hair to avoid brassy hues.
- 1 cup distilled water
- 15 drops Citrus Fresh™
- 3 drops Frankincense
- 3 drops Ylang Ylang
- 3 drops Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood*
Add all ingredients into a 12-oz. spray bottle and shake to combine.
To use, shake well and spritz throughout hair when spending time in the sun.
Start with a small amount to avoid over-drying hair.
These essential oil DIYs will have your hair feelings soft and looking fabulous after any activity!
*Hong Kuai or Hinoki may be good alternatives to try if you do not have Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood. However, we cannot guarantee similar results because the therapeutic compounds would not be the same as Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood.

Directions
Mix all ingredients together and add to a dispenser bottle or squeeze bottle.
Shake before use and use within 4 weeks.
