The Problem with Your Coffee Creamer Addiction

Coffee-mate

Creamers are big business generating $3 billion in sales annually.

Nestle’s Coffee-Mate Creamer is a key player in the fake creamer market.

Manufacturers want to get you to try their products, and keep you for life by addicting you with the irresistible ingredients.

What is in Coffee-mate and is it really addicting?

Coffee creamer ingredients

  • Water
  • Sugar (GMO)
  • Coconut Oil
  • Maltodextrin (GMO corn?)
  • Sodium Caseinate
  • Propylene glycol
  • Dipotassium Phosphate
  • Natural and Artificial Flavors
  • Polysorbate 60
  • Color
  • Sucralose
  • Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate

Ingredients in various Nestle Coffee-Mate Creamers commonly include:
ingredients in coffee creamer

  • Water
  • Sugar (probably GMO)
  • Soybean oil (GMO)
  • Casein
  • Mono- and Diglycerides (Trans Fats)
  • Dipotassium Phosphate
  • Natural and Artificial Flavors (MSG)
  • Cellulose gel and gum
  • Carrageenan
  • Sucralose/Splenda (artificial sweetener)

Yes, it is chemical soup — but is it addictive?

The sugar and MSG are addicting! Physically addicting in your brain.

Confessions from Coffee-mate addicts:

Heather eats fairly healthy but admits on her blog to a Coffee-mate addiction.

“I decided to try putting flavored creamer in my coffee and it was AMAZING. Not only did it completely change my stance on coffee from, “eh, that’s all right, I guess” status to “OMG, I need this stuff” status, but now my husband – the non coffee consumer – actually requests that I make coffee.”

“I found the very last cinnamon bun kind of coffee creamer at Wal-Mart and the coffee truly tastes like cinnamon buns. Needless to say, we both went from drinking zippo cups of coffee to several cups a day. The best part about the creamer is that if you have a sweet tooth like me or are struggling with your cappuccino addiction, it is a much lower calorie way to satisfy that craving as the creamer runs about 30 to 35 calories a tablespoon.”

What are Better Options?

Raw cream from grass-fed cows

Real cream (ideally heavy raw cream) is full of fat soluble vitamins, congugated linoleic acid (CLA), enzymes and beneficial probiotics.

Pasteurization destroys all the good things in raw cream but that is the only way most people can get cream.

It is a crime in some parts of the U.S. to sell delicious organic raw cream, milk and fresh butter.

I believe they are arresting the wrong people (like poor menonite farmers) when they should be arresting Nestle and other food manufacturers for selling unsuspecting consumers their addicting, harmful, MSG-loaded artificially-flavored, non-separating, artificially-sweetened, trans fat-laden coffee additive.

Canned Coconut Milk

Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof Coffee is made with grass-fed better and MCT oil. It is delicious and gets us away from the pasteurized cream that often has carrageenan added.

I use a milk frother to mix butter and MCT into my coffee in the morning

  • Make Creamy Froth Quickly: If you love your morning coffee filled with froth and foam, the portable Handheld Milk Frother can create a creamy cup within 15 to 30 seconds

Try it with a scoop of Collagen Protein.
