Why I do not trust Tom’s of Maine
Read all of the ingredients on every product that you consider purchasing from Tom’s. They still use fluoride and sodium laurel sulfate in some products. I cannot trust a company that is still making money promoting products with toxins in them.
Tom’s of Maine adds ⚠️fluoride to several of their products for adults and children (Children’s Silly Strawberry, Save the Animals Children’s toothpaste, Luminous White, Charcoal toothpaste). Some of these products have sodium laurel sulfate.
Simply White ingredients include: Sodium fluoride, hydrated silica, water, sorbitol, glycerin, xylitol, sodium lauryl sulfate, natural flavors, xanthan gum, titanium dioxide, carrageenan.
Avoid FLUORIDE – it is a poison to the brain.

Just like with toothpaste, be sure to read the ingredients on your mouthwash. Avoid alcohol, dyes, unknown chemicals and fluoride (Tom’s Freshmint has fluroide).

Fluoride

Prior to 1950, the ADA, American Medical Association (AMA) and the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) were strongly opposed to the human consumption of fluoride in any form and concentration (Lee, 1995).
Curiously, the ADA changed their official position on fluoride and the organization is now a strong proponent of fluoridation.
Jim Maxey, DDS, believes that this about-face had to do with political pressure from the aluminum and fertilizer industries (Maxey, n.d.). These industries produce toxic waste fluoride that is either dumped in acidic wastewater ponds or sold to municipal water treatment facilities. Approximately 200,000 tons of silicofluorides are sold to communities in the United States for water fluoridation (Connett, 2003).
The conclusion I have come to is fluoride is a toxic substance that should not be put into municipal drinking water and products like toothpaste.
Studies documented on various websites, including Second Look, show that fluoridation of the water has little, if any, benefit in preventing dental caries.
Fluoride has been linked to cancer, osteoporosis, and dental fluorosis.
Perhaps the ADA has decided to dig in their heels and turn their back on credible studies because admitting that fluoridation is useless in preventing dental disease and it is harmful to health would bring an avalanche of legal backlash that would wipe out the financial resources of this organization and its members.
