What is CBD? How does it support health?

CBD is legal (a legal substance) and it is not going to get you high.

It has been shown to benefit people suffering from anxiety, sleep problems, pain, headaches. The benefits are for everyone, as it supports hormones, the brain, metabolism (weight management), energy, immune health, cardiovascular health, fertility and more.

Examples of Beneficial Effects

Reduction of symptoms and improvement in various conditions including:

  • pain, inflammation
  • nausea, vomiting
  • autoimmune conditions
  • post-traumatic stress disorder
  • thyroid disorders
  • dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s
  • depression
  • panic attacks
  • inflammatory conditions like arthritis
  • stroke
  • cancer
  • autism
  • cardiovascular disorders
  • obsessive compulsive behavior
  • epilepsy
  • anorexia
  • obesity
  • sleep problems
  • glaucoma
  • metabolic disorders

Let’s get into all these terms, the health benefits and tips for finding a quality CBD product!

There’s a lot of confusion about hemp, marijuana, THC and CBD. CBD and THC come from the same species of plant but they are very different compounds.

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is a natural cannabinoid that is found in hemp. More information about the action and the benefits will be given in this article.

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive compound that causes euphoric side effects. That is why products that contain THC are illegal in many states, while CBD products that contain no THC are not.

Hemp is the plant that produces CBD and has less than 0.3% THC unless it is isolated CBD, then there is 0.0% THC. Hemp is different from other cannabis plants. It can’t get you high.

Marijuana is the cannabis plant that produces 5 – 20% THC and has very little CBD. So if you want to get high, go for marijuana, not CBD.

The 2018 Farm Bill

In 2018, the President of the United States signed the 2018 Farm Bill which finally de-scheduled CBD from its Schedule V status. This Bill does not mean that individuals or business can grow hemp freely, as you can grow tomatoes or basil. It is federally legal only if the CBD is from hemp grown by a licensed business with approval from state and federal governments. Not all hemp grown today has these permits, making many CBD products illegal.

Highest Quality CBD

Nature’s Ultra is a wholly owned partner of Young Living. This CBD is the highest quality CBD anywhere. It is pure CBD with 0% THC, all paired with powerful Young Living essential oils. All ingredients in these CBD products are natural, organic, vegan approved, and gluten free. As a partner farm for Young Living, cultivation practices have been rigorously tested, and have been approved by Young Living’s Seed to Seal®* quality commitment.

Know where you hemp is grown and who is growing it!

While hemp grows well without the use of herbicides and pesticides, most growers are using pesticides and other chemicals anyway, as shown through testing. If you don’t know the standards that your grower is using, then you may be getting toxic chemicals in the plants.

The CBD industry is the wild, wild west – you can buy a bottle of CBD and not know what is in there or where it came from. There could be pesticides, toxins, THC, and other undesirable terpenes.

Heavy metals contaminate the hemp plants and growers intentionally are contaminating their own plants to increase the weight of the product sold.

It is not surprising that the market is surging with companies selling inferior and mislabeled CBD products in the name of profiting on the craze. A report in JAMA found that up to 60% of the top brands were mislabeled and some contained significantly higher levels of THC then reported. Some brands were also spiking their CBD with synthetic cannabinoids that can make people sick (JAMA. 2017;318(17):1708-1709. doi:10.1001/jama.2017.11909).

Many CBD retailers private label (“white label”) CBD. “White label” CBD comes from mass producers who then sell it to many retailers who simple put their own label on the bottle. They may not even know the source while they label the product as a pristine, clean product that is THC free.

We believe in organic farming practices and regenerative agriculture.

The CBD from YL is derived from hemp plants grown on our farm in Colorado without the use of any pesticides. This farm is one of the first hemp farms in the United States to hold both a USDA organic certification and USDA organic handler’s certification.

This 1500-acre hemp farm grows the highest-quality hemp, and our extraction methods ensure that our CBD is pure and free from any THC. The hemp farm and cultivation processes are Young Living Seed to Seal® certified, which means that the hemp from our Colorado farm reaches the high standards set by the world’s leader in essential oils!

Third Party Testing

The CBD is third party tested to certify that it contains no contaminates.

See the quality reports at the end of this article and on the website. Zero pesticides, heavy metals and solvents detected.

IS CBD SAFE?

CBD is considered “generally well-tolerated with a good safety profile” according to a 2018 World Health Organization report.

Companies in the CBD industry often lack quality control and don’t know their sources. This is why getting your CBD from a trusted source with high quality control is important. The CBD that we now have access to has one of the best quality control systems in the industry.

Cinnamon CBD Oil Ingredients: MCT coconut oil, Cannabidiol (CBD), Cinnamomum zeylanicum† (Cinnamon bark) oil, Organic stevia leaf extract.

Contains 0.0% THC. Tested for heavy metals, solvents, and pesticides.

Can You Fail a Drug Test with CBD?

You can safely use our CBD products without the fear of testing positive on a drug test. Quality methods and testing prove that this CBD has 0% THC.

Is CBD Addictive?

You will not form an addiction to this CBD because it contains no THC. According to a 2018 World Health Organization critical review of cannabidiols, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.” Remember, CBD is not psychoactive and does not cause euphoria. You can safely use CBD without forming a dependence on it.

Why is Smart Spectrum better than Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, or CBD Isolate?

There are three basic types of CBD:

  • Full spectrum CBD
  • Broad spectrum CBD
  • CBD isolate

Full spectrum CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant and contains all of the plant’s other compounds, including terpenes, THC, plant essential oils, and other cannabinoids.

Broad spectrum CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant and contains all of the plant’s other compounds, except THC. This might sound like an acceptable option, but there are some drawbacks. For example, other cannabinoids may be introduced, and there is little to no data on their possible benefits or negative effects. The taste may be unpleasant as well.

CBD isolate is CBD isolated from other parts of the plant. It does not contain THC, terpenes or plant essential oils. Regular CBD isolate will give inferior results because you do not get the full benefits of the essential oils and terpenes that have health benefits.

Smart Spectrum. These CBD products begin with a CBD isolate but then combine with Young Living essential oils to create a unique, clean, THC-free, high-quality, highly effective smart spectrum CBD. This is the key! The beneficial terpenes are added back.

Smart Spectrum – CBD Isolate plus Young Living Essential Oils

This is cutting edge. The purest possible CBD is combined with essential oils from Young Living, the world leader in essential oils. Combining CBD and essential oils opens up many new health benefits from all the compounds. Adding Young Living essential oils to a pure CBD isolate, greatly increases the efficacy of the product.

This CBD prduct gives a broader, more robust, purposeful terpene profile than CBD alone.

CO2 Extraction Gives the Purest CBD with 0% THC

Extraction methods vary from brand to brand, but most involve a solvent to dissolve CBD molecules. Other companies use solvents like hexane and benzene which are neurotoxic. All solvents are considered toxic.

CO2 extraction is ideal for maintaining purity without the use of chemical solvents. Young Living’s CBD partner uses a proprietary CO2 extraction method. Rigorous testing ensures that each product is free of any heavy metals, and you never have to worry about harsh chemicals. The result is the purest CBD and 0% THC.

CBD – CANNABIDIOL

CBD stands for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol, is one of the primary natural cannabinoids found in the industrial hemp plant.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a good antioxidant that is even more powerful as a free radical scavenger than Vitamin E and Vitamin C.

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that bind the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) receptors throughout your brain and body. There are over 113 known different cannabinoids found in hemp.

Researchers have identified two or more cannabinoid receptors. It is interesting that as the receptors are studied, they find :

  • CB-1, predominantly present in the nervous system, connective tissues, gonads, glands, and organs.
  • CB-2, predominantly found in the immune system and its associated structures.

For those who want to deep dive and learn more about the ECS, the receptors and how they work, the science is there.

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

Humans were created with an Endocannabinoid System that was not identified until the 1990’s.

CBD primarily interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS regulates the body to bring in into balance, or homeostasis. It is the body’s internal adaptogenic system.

The ECS regulates a wide variety of processes in the body such as:

  • appetite
  • sleep and circadian rhythm – CBD when blended with essential oils is very powerful for supporting sleep.
  • energy metabolism
  • pain modulation – try CBD topically or use sublingually
  • mood, stress, anxiety
  • emotional response
  • flight or fight response
  • memory
  • fertility
  • bone health
  • brain health – CBD has neuroprotective effects
  • skin health
  • arterial health
  • respiratory health
  • immune health
  • inflammation
  • peripheral nervous system
  • improves how the brain responds to trauma
  • regulates functions of digestive, urinary and reproductive tracts
  • appetite, metabolism, regulation of body weight

Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells.

In each tissue, the cannabinoid system performs different tasks, but the goal is always the same: keep the body in balance (homeostasis).

Concentration chart:

500mg CBD

  • Approximately 16.66 mg of CBD per 1 ml (full dropper, one single serving size)

1000mg CBD

  • Approximately 33.33 mg of CBD per 1 ml (full dropper, one single serving size)

CBD Oil Dosages

The manufacturer recommends 1 full dropper (1 oz) CBD oil per day.

It is a good idea to start low and go slow.

You might want to begin with 2 drops in the morning and 2 drops again at least 2 hours before bed. Try that for a week and then double it, using 4 drops in the morning and 4 drops in the evening. A full dose is 20 drops, so feel free to keep increasing to 10 drops and 10 drops and even a full dropper in the morning and a full dropper in the evening.

This is not a pharmaceutical drug. It is a natural product. We are not prescribing doses. You use what feels good for you.

The product is labeled for topical use but you are free to use it as you see fit (sublingual for example).

The key is consistency.

In order to enjoy the most benefits, use it daily. Give it about two weeks to fully kick in. If you find that you are using the 500mg product four times a day, then switch to the 1000 mg product.
