Study: Quercetin is beneficial for severe inflammation as seen with COVID-19.

A study published in January 2021 stated: Quercetin, as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic and inflammatory compound, is probably a potential treatment for severe inflammation and one of the main life-threatening conditions in patients with COVID-19. (Reference: PMCID: PMC7840793, Anti-inflammatory effect of Quercetin).

A human COVID-19 study in Turkey

  • 95 patients with COVID-19 received a 1,000 mg active treatment dose of Quercetin
  • 113 healthcare workers received a 500 mg dose as a prophylaxis.

The study says that there were no recorded COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers taking the treatment and no deaths among the reserved patients.

Dr. Paul Marik, chief of pulmonary and critical care medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical said despite not having enough studies on Quercetin, it is cheap, beneficial and safe. What do you have to lose?

Quercetin helps!

Quercetin boosts your immune system and may work to control viral replication. Quercetin and Zinc work hand-in-hand. Quercetin allows zinc to exert its proven antiviral properties. With COVID-19, quercetin may also lower inflammation, help clear mucus and support immunity.

Quercetin is an Ionophore

Ionophores help carry zinc into cells. Several substances can take this action including Hydroxychloroquine (prescription drug in the US), Quercetin supplement and green tea extract.

Foods rich in Quercetin

Quercetin is a pigment, phytochemical/polyphenol/flavonoid that is in the skins and leaves of many fruits and vegetables including wolfberries, berries, pomegranates, plums, aronia, elderberries, asparagus, red onion, apples, kale, okra, spinach.

Get Zinc into the Cells to Block Viral Replication

Dr. Anthony Cardillo states that “Hydroxychloroquine opens the zinc channel, zinc goes into the cell, it then blocks the replication of the cellular machinery. So it has to be used in conjunction with zinc to be effective. Every patient that I have prescribed it to has been very very ill with Covid-19 and within 8-12 hours they were basically symptom free.”
