Quercetin boosts your immune system

Quercetin is found in food. It is a flavonoid. Flavonoids are water-soluble plant pigments, which are responsible for the antioxidant capacity of fruits and plants.

Quercetin is the most abundant flavonoid in vegetables and fruits and has been the most widely studied to determine the biological effects of flavonoids [source].

Quercetin has a wide range of benefits: [source]

  • antioxidant
  • anti-inflammatory
  • immune system regulation
  • cardioprotective (protects cardiovascular system)
  • neuroprotective (protects brains cells and function)
  • energy production from mitochondria
  • restores gut microbiome imbalance (a healthy gut is necessary for a healthy immune system)

Quercetin helps your immune system

  • Quercetin boosts your immune system.
  • Quercetin and zinc work hand-in-hand.
  • Quercetin allows zinc to exert its proven antiviral properties by helping zinc get into cells.

Quercetin has anti-cancer benefits

This review study focuses on quercetin as a chemopreventive agent (prevents cancer). It acts as an antioxidant at low concentrations, preventing cancer, but functions as a pro-oxidant at high concentrations, making it useful in the treatment of active cancer. Studies suggest that quercetin binds to several receptors that play important roles in carcinogenesis, regulates expression of various genes, induces epigenetic changes, and interferes with enzymes that metabolize chemical carcinogens. In addition, it also elicits anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects. Quercetin induces apoptosis of cancer cells (cancer cell death) without affecting healthy cells. Quercetin also has antiangiogenic (blocks the growth of cancer’s blood supply) and antimetastatic (stops cancer spread from the primary site to other organs and tissues) properties. [source]

Quercetin is affordable, beneficial and safe. What do you have to lose?

Supplement recommendation for Quercetin: 500mg per day. During Sickness: take 500mg 2-3 times a day with zinc in a multi-mineral complex.

Quercetin Supplement Options

Quercetin 500 – 500mg Quercetin in one capsule.

Plant-Based Quercetin – 250mg Quercetin per capsule

Plant-Based Quercetin is made with a patented, highly bioavailable form of quercetin called Quercefit to strengthen the body’s defense against free radicals, stubborn allergens, and harmful organisms. This quercetin is formulated with an enhanced phytosome delivery method that increases the body’s ability to absorb active Quercetin up to 20 times higher than standard quercetin.

Quercetin-Bromelain Forté™ (250mg Quercetin per capsule) plus it provides a mixture of proteolytic enzymes and bioflavonoids.

  • Helps regulate the immune cytokine response.
  • Protects cells and tissues against free radicals.
  • Bromelain, papain, and pancreatin provide a mixture of protein-specific and other enzymes that help ensure proper breakdown of protein molecules that may otherwise cause irritation.
  • Vitamin C supports histamine metabolism, detoxification processes, and collagen synthesis.

Ingredients in Quercetin-Bromelain Forté™

Quercetin is a Zinc Ionophore

Ionophores help carry zinc into cells. Quercetin supplement and EGCG, can do this.

Quercetin will get zinc into the cells to block viral replication. It has to be used in conjunction with zinc to be effective for blocking viral replication. Read more about zinc and how to take this mineral.

Foods rich in Quercetin

Quercetin is a pigment, phytochemical/polyphenol/flavonoid that is in the skins and leaves of many fruits and vegetables including wolfberries, berries, pomegranates, plums, aronia, elderberries, asparagus, red onion, apples, kale, okra, spinach and elderberries.

Daily Supplement Recommendations to support a healthy immune system.

In addition to taking quercetin, other helpful daily supplements include Vitamin D3 with K2, buffered vitamin C powder (1,500mg daily or more when feeling sick), Zinc (15 – 30mg in a multi mineral supplement that includes copper and selenium).

It is recommended that people get their vitamin D levels in the range of 80-100 by taking D3 10,000 + K2 daily. If you feel sick, you will take much more for three days, then drop back to 10,000 IU.

  • Quercetin, 500mg daily
  • D3 10,000 + K2, 1 gel cap per day
  • Buffered Vitamin C Powder, 1500mg daily, or more
  • Zinc in a Mineral Complex daily as LDA Trace Mineral Complex
